The Boston Bruins got a memorable performance from Michael DiPietro and plenty of offensive support in a 6-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night at TD Garden.
DiPietro stopped all 28 shots he faced to earn his first NHL shutout. David Pastrnak finished with two goals and two assists, while Charlie McAvoy recorded four assists as Boston continued its strong start to the season.
The Bruins have points in seven consecutive games and improved to 8-2-1 with the win.
Here are three takeaways from Boston's shutout of Nashville.
DiPietro gives Bruins another reason for optimism
Boston's goaltending depth got another boost Thursday.
DiPietro followed up his first NHL win against Anaheim with an even bigger milestone, turning aside every shot Nashville sent his way. The 27-year-old needed 28 saves to secure the shutout, giving the Bruins a commanding result in his first home start of the season.
The performance comes at a good time for Boston, which has relied on contributions from throughout its lineup during its early-season run. DiPietro showed he can provide a steady presence when called upon, adding another encouraging chapter to his NHL career.
With his first victory and first shutout now behind him, DiPietro has made the most of his recent opportunities.

Pastrnak keeps Bruins' offense rolling
Pastrnak continues to be one of Boston's biggest offensive difference-makers.
The winger accounted for four points Thursday, scoring twice and setting up two other goals. His second-period tally extended Boston's advantage, and his late third-period goal put the finishing touch on the shutout.
Pastrnak now has 14 points over his last seven games, with six goals and eight assists during that stretch. His production has helped the Bruins maintain their scoring pace while several players contribute throughout the lineup.
Boston didn't need Pastrnak to do everything against Nashville, but his ability to turn chances into goals helped make sure the Predators never had a realistic path back into the game.

McAvoy makes his presence felt
McAvoy's impact went beyond his work on the blue line.
The defenseman picked up four assists, helping set up goals from Casey Mittelstadt, Elias Lindholm and Pastrnak. He has now recorded six points in five games since returning from his season-opening suspension.
Boston has benefited from McAvoy's return, particularly with his ability to move the puck and create opportunities from the back end. Thursday's performance offered another example of how his offensive contributions can complement the Bruins' forward group.
The Bruins also received two assists from Pavel Zacha, further illustrating how the offense spread the production around in a six-goal performance.
Boston will try to carry that momentum into Saturday's home game against the San Jose Sharks. After earning points in seven straight games, the Bruins have another opportunity to build on their strong start.
