Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is not for everyone, his gruff persona abrasive to some – even if it demonstrably drives winning. But the players suiting up for him all seem to love playing for the West Virginia alum, and newest Celtic Paul George appears to be part of that growing club. "It's been a beautiful challenge, as I'll tell him," said the veteran wing via CLNS Media when asked about his dynamic with Mazzulla to date.
"I've been so used to (in) my career of having the ball in my hands," said George. "And the offense running through me, knowing where my spots will be at. The beautiful thing within Joe's offense is I could be anywhere, and … there is no set play, it's reading the game, thinking the game with such a high IQ team."
"It's been a fun challenge," continued the Fresno State alum. "How can I be myself, how can I find rhythm, how can I play at my pace, my speed while being in different spots and figuring it out and what the defense has given us."
"So it's been fun," he added. "This is how I always envisioned playing. So it's up to me to now try to figure it out."
From the sounds of things, PG-13 is settling into being on a ball club coached by Mazzulla just fine.
