RICHARD EDEN: Caprice Bourret 'fled London after murders on my doorstep'

Top model Caprice Bourret has found a lucrative new career producing and starring in Christmas romantic comedies.

The films, such as A Scottish Christmas Secret, paint an idyllic portrait of a picture-postcard Britain.

But in real life she has moved her family overseas because of the violent crime in Labour mayor Sadiq Khan’s lawless capital.

‘I had to get out of London because it wasn’t safe,’ she tells me at a party in Mayfair. ‘There were two murders outside of my house, literally on my doorstep.’

The final straw was that one of the victims shared a first name with her husband, the financier Ty Comfort.

‘One of the murders, guess what the victim’s name was? It was Ty, like my husband’s name. He died right on my doorstep, and Ty was, like, “OK, right, we’re out.”’

‘His name was Tyrone, but his friends called him Ty.

‘I don’t know if it was the cherry on the cake, but there were multiple things.’

Caprice, 54, and her husband put their £12million, Grade II-listed six-bedroom mansion in west London up for sale in August. They and their two sons, Jax and Jett, aged 13, have moved to Ibiza with her family.

The Californian-born businesswoman, who is Jewish, had previously spoken about the great lengths she went to protect herself and her family from anti-Semitic attacks, including taking her Mezuzah down from her door.

The small case, containing verses from the Torah, is traditionally fixed to the doorposts of Jewish homes.

It’s an item Caprice no longer feels she has to conceal in her new home on the Spanish island. ‘It’s so safe,’ she says.

And she adds of their sons: ‘They have so much freedom.

‘They go around on their scooters everywhere. I worry less about them over there than I do here.’

I will never take Wham! star back, says Amanda

WHAM! star Andrew Ridgeley enjoyed a brief romance with super-rich divorcee Amanda Cronin but he is allegedly desperate to tell her, ‘I’m Your Man’ again.

‘All of them always come back, including Andrew,’ she tells me at the Mode Eps Gala for mental health charity Anna Freud at Spencer House in London.

‘But I don’t go back. They would all marry me tomorrow at 9am, I don’t leave a bad taste in anyone’s mouth.’

Amanda, 58, who has a daughter and is said to have ‘the longest legs in Belgravia’, landed a multi-million-pound divorce settlement in 2019 from Monaco energy mogul Mark Daeche.

Her song Where Is My Husband! has been a huge hit, but Raye is worried that it’s put off potential boyfriends. ‘I am not on any sort of dating apps or anything like that,’ says the 28-year-old pop star, whose real name is Rachel Keen. ‘I just don’t even know how I would [meet someone]. It is a weird time. Maybe with Where Is My Husband!, people are, like, “Woah, oh God, that is so intense.”’ The Londoner was pictured with Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan, 39, at a theme park in California in August, but she later said: ‘We’re just friends who like roller coasters.'

Ellen Degeneres's horse trials

The Duchess of Sussex’s chum Ellen DeGeneres is refusing to take nay for an answer over plans for a riding arena at her Cotswolds spread.

The US chat show star, 68, and her horse-mad wife, actress Portia de Rossi, 53, applied earlier this year to build an all-weather arena at their estate. But the council rejected the scheme.

Now, Ellen has returned with scaled-down plans designed to overcome planners’ objections. ‘When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses,' Ellen has said.

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and his then wife, Jo, once claimed to have spotted a UFO while they were in Brazil – and they weren’t on drugs at the time.

Now, Jo, 71, is encouraging youngsters to believe in aliens. ‘I’m working on some children’s books,’ the former Strictly star tells me at a private viewing of Botanicals in Colour, an exhibition of art by her daughter, Leah Wood, at Pavilion in Knightsbridge.

‘It’s about a little girl who is obsessed with aliens. I’m illustrating them as well. I’m always thinking about aliens – and where are they?’

One role proved too tall an order for The Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston. ‘At drama school, you have to go to the zoo and pick an animal, then you have eight weeks to work up a presentation to the entire academy – you have to be the animal,’ the 6ft 2in actor explains. ‘I was, like, “Giraffe, hands down”, but the movement director said, “You’re not allowed to be a giraffe, you’re already a giraffe”. I was a black mamba instead.’

Daisy dreams of wedding day

Could wedding bells be ringing soon for Daisy Edgar-Jones?

The Sense and Sensibility star, 28, who’s been going out with photographer Ben Seed, 36, for nearly four years, admits she finds herself fantasising about their big day.

‘I like the idea of a London wedding,’ Daisy says. ‘I’ve never been one to like somewhere abroad, which is fabulous in its own way... I like the idea of one crazy night out in London.’ The actress says she would also do away with a traditional hen do – combining it with the fiance’s stag, instead: ‘Sometimes you do stens, which is like a hen do and a stag do at the same time.’
