BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discussed deepening their strategic partnership, expanding trade and freight transportation, and advancing joint projects in energy, industry, agriculture and water management during a meeting between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Samarkand on October 19.
This was reflected in the statement by the press service of the Uzbek president, following a meeting on the sidelines of the C5+1 foreign ministers’ meeting, according to the Uzbek president’s press service. Muhriddin conveyed greetings and best wishes to Mirziyoyev from Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
The sides reviewed key areas for further strengthening bilateral relations based on friendship, good-neighborly ties and alliance, with a focus on implementing agreements reached at the highest level.
The officials welcomed growing cooperation across various sectors, noting increases in bilateral trade and freight transportation.
Joint projects in energy, industry, agriculture and water management are also advancing, the sides noted.
They emphasized the importance of expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as educational and tourism exchanges.
The two officials also exchanged views on current regional issues.
The C5+1 format brings together the United States and five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — to discuss regional cooperation and shared economic and security priorities. The B5+1 platform facilitates dialogue between businesses and governments in Central Asia.
