A Qatari delegation travelled to Tehran on Sunday, a senior Iranian official confirmed to Al Jazeera, as regional tensions persist and diplomatic efforts continue to seek a resolution to the crisis.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the visit was part of routine exchanges between Qatar and Iran amid heightened tensions.
“The main obstacle to a diplomatic solution is not mediation, but the US refusal to accept Iran’s legitimate demands and its constant reneging on its commitments,” the official said.
Qatar has repeatedly called for a peaceful resolution to the crisis and has sought to renew mediation efforts between Iran and the United States.
