Cadillac F1 Team will run a special livery during its home US GP weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, designed by designers at General Motors.
Following its American counterpart Haas, Cadillac has unveiled its own special livery for this weekend’s F1 US GP at the Circuit of the Americas. It is its second home event after the Miami GP earlier this year, where it ran a special livery as well.
The one at the US GP is even more special, considering it is designed by designers at GM Design. Texan Vincent Traina, who is a design manager at the General Motors Performance, Motorsports and Accessories studio, led the team.

Truly Texan Style on Cadillac F1 Livery
The project goes back to the summer, with Cassidy Towriss overseeing the process. The livery showcases true Texan culture. There is ‘chain stitching of blue jeans and vintage cowboy shirts’ along with the ‘scrollwork of fine saddlery’ and ‘hidden motifs’, which are famous iconography of the American West.
“Injecting that creativity from the GM Design side, bringing in the culture of Texas as a Texan, and being such a fan of Formula 1, it all hit home for me,” Traina told GM News. “It looks like the whole livery is embroidered right onto the car, which is really cool.
“It had to be serious, it had to look authentic. We treated the Cadillac Formula 1 car like we would treat the interior of a Cadillac production vehicle – keeping the design elements very elevated, keeping the color palette nice and clean, but still bringing in the culture and being a little bit playful.
“We wanted it to feel a little lighthearted, but also like it belongs, and has a depth of detail that brings in the heritage and culture. To be able to contribute like this to a Formula 1 effort, it’s just been a dream,” summed up Traina.

Hidden Easter Eggs
While Traina’s team worked from the Michigan base, they collaborated with designers in the UK, which brought Jamie Thresher, a senior design visualization CG artist, into the picture. Thresher and Traina’s team worked together to make it possible for Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez and Colton Herta (FP1) to drive during the F1 US GP weekend.
The designers have noted some Easter eggs hidden on the race cars, including the ‘embroidered depictions of the Austin skyline and a map of the Circuit of the Americas’. It also features 50 stars representing the United States of America, cactuses to represent Texas and a horseshoe with the heels facing up to represent a symbol of good luck.
