Defence group Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (Sweden's military procurement agency) to develop a new generation of automatic control for Gripen. The order is worth SEK 1.3 billion (about $124 million), with delivery planned for 2030, Saab writes in a press release.
The autopilot is described as a central component of Gripen's control system.
"The new autopilot will ensure Gripen's long-term capacity and performance," says Marcus Wandt, head of Saab's Aeronautics business area, in the press release.
