2026 College Football Playoff Odds: Are UCLA, Utah Legit Contenders?

The 2026 College Football Playoff will once again feature 12 teams. Just like in 2025, the four highest-ranked teams overall in the final selection committee rankings earn the top four seeds and first-round byes, regardless of whether they won a conference title. The remaining playoff teams will then be seeded based entirely on the final CFP rankings. The final automatic bid (usually the 12th seed) will go to the highest-ranked team from one of the Group of 6 conferences (American, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, Pac-12, or Sun Belt), regardless of whether it won its conference championship. The Irish will travel to ranked BYU in Week 7 and have a clash with reigning CFP runner-up Miami on Nov. 7, but in its first six games, Notre Dame outscored Wisconsin, Rice, Michigan State, Purdue, UNC and Stanford 264-66. Each of those six teams is unranked. West Coast Elite: Are UCLA and Utah the real deal? The Bruins, under first-year head coach Bob Chesney, are 5-0 and just beat Oregon in Eugene, 17-15. That's a big win. Its odds to make the CFP were +455 last week, but now they land at +105, ninth on the board. Also consider this: UCLA doesn't face another ranked opponent until its rivalry game with USC on Nov. 28, and that game is on the Bruins' home turf.
