Florian Wirtz is getting better at Liverpool but there's someone ready to takeover from him very soon.
It's not quite been the esteem for the German midfielder that he expected when he first arrived at Anfield. Florian Wirtz came with a lot of promise but he hasn't really delivered those expectations.
There have been great performances from the German. But they have also been juxtaposed by some utterly disappointing performances.
On the balance of things, you'd have to say there have been more disappointing performances than great ones so far.
That's a real shame because at one point in time while at Bayer Leverkusen it seemed like Wirtz was heading right to the very top of the game.
He's young, and he still have time of course.
How Liverpool can get the best out of Florian Wirtz
For any playmaker in order for him to function well in a team, he needs to have the right teammates around him. It's impossible for a playmaker to do well if his teammates are not making the right runs.
For a lot of his time at Liverpool Wirtz has had to balanced playing with a wide myriad of attackers. He's had to become accustomed to not just playing with one but multiple different types of players.
That's a factor that will undoubtedly have an impact on his overall performance.
There's also another element at play. A lot of the times, Liverpool cannot find Wirtz in the right areas. There's no coincidence that Wirtz plays better when Trey Nyoni and Jeremy Jacquet are both on the pitch.
The duo are known for their ability to play line-breaking passes and are able to find Wirtz in better positions.
Meet Liverpool's new incredible playmaker - AJ Yeguo
Wirtz's problem is that he didn't grow up in England. He needs a lot more time to acclimatise to English football. That's something AJ Yeguo doesn't have to worry about.
He has been at Liverpool's academy from a young age, and he has also represented both Poland and England's youth national teams.
The young attacker, is only 17-years-old but he's catching the eye for the Reds' academy with his playmaking ability.
He put on a great cameo for Liverpool's U19 side in the UEFA Youth League against LASK and impressed in the U18 Premier League where he has two goals and three assists in just six appearances.
A quick and very physically strong player. Yeguo's creative flair combined with his physical qualities not only make him an incredible playmaker but it could make him better suited to the Premier League in comparison to Wirtz.
