Hansem, a home interior company, has introduced the furniture industry's first extended warranty insurance product.
The company said on the 14th it had launched "Hansem AS Care+," which extends the warranty period by three years after the standard one-year free warranty expires. Hansem developed the product with Hanwha General Insurance to reduce the repair costs customers face after buying furniture. The company said it took into account that premium furniture is used for longer periods, driving higher demand for after-sales service.
Eligible products include Hansem furniture such as storage systems, sofas and beds. Rehaus products such as kitchen and bath items, fabric products and goods from other brands are not covered.
Customers who buy multiple items can choose which products to insure. A single payment is required, and coverage takes effect automatically once the free warranty period ends. For malfunctions, repair costs are covered in full up to the purchase price of the product, with no limit on the number of claims. Damage caused by customer negligence is covered once a year.
Customers can sign up within 30 days of delivery and installation through Hansem Mall or the offline store where the product was purchased.
"We are the first in the industry to offer extended warranty insurance because we want to take full responsibility for after-sales care beyond the free repair period," a Hansem official said. "We will continue to expand innovative services so customers can use Hansem products with confidence."
