Thick clouds of smoke were seen rising from a drain along the Duta–Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) in Kuala Lumpur this morning, 14 October, prompting motorists to slow down
Footage shared on Threads showed grey smoke billowing along the expressway, beyond the Sentul toll plaza towards the city centre, as motorcyclists rode through the affected area.
According to Bernama, the smoke was caused by a streetlight that caught fire at Ramp 0.5, along the route from Greenwood towards the Hospital Kuala Lumpur exit.
Sentul district police chief ACP Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said police inspections conducted with DUKE Expressway management found that the fire had been extinguished.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident. DUKE Expressway management is carrying out further follow-up action.
