The airport has been targeted by rocket attacks several times in the past week. On Saturday, at least 12 people were killed and more than 300 injured in what has been described as one of the deadliest attacks in the country in many years.
In a new attack on Sunday, a Pakistani citizen was killed when a projectile hit one of the airport’s terminal buildings.
Later that day, another airport in the country, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, was also targeted. Saudi authorities said air defences had also shot down missiles and drones.
The Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen has repeatedly claimed responsibility for the attacks in recent days and has threatened to continue targeting transport hubs in Saudi Arabia.
