A 23-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries after three armed robbers attempted to sexually assault her at Ankara Park in the federal capital, according to a report published by Dawn.
Police sources said the woman was walking through the park when the suspects confronted her at gunpoint and snatched her mobile phone. They then attempted to take her to a nearby wooded area, but she resisted. The confrontation left her with several injuries, including wounds to her face.
The suspects eventually escaped after failing to overpower her. The woman later reported the incident to the police, who registered a case.
In another incident reported last week, a 26-year-old woman was gang-raped in the Gangal area after returning from work late in the evening.
According to the police account, the woman had reached Gangal stop when several local men intercepted her. They took her to a nearby wooded area, where they sexually assaulted her before fleeing.
The victim subsequently contacted the police and was taken to a hospital for a medico-legal examination. Police registered a case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which prescribes punishment for rape.
