Eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have reversed their decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging renewed loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmakers made the commitment during a visit to Tinubu facilitated by the Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle.
The visit is part of efforts by Matawalle to strengthen unity within the APC in Zamfara and other parts of the country ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the meeting, the lawmakers reportedly assured the President of their support for his re-election bid and other APC candidates, as well as their resolve to remain in the party.

Tinubu thanked them for their loyalty and assured them of equal opportunities within the APC. He also called for peace and unity in Zamfara and other states facing internal party disputes.
Matawalle, founder of the Tinubu Again Movement, also integrated the lawmakers into the political group to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The lawmakers are Aliyu Ango Kagara of Talata Mafara South Constituency; Ibrahim Tukur Bakura of Bakura Constituency; Faruk Musa Dosara of Maradun I Constituency; Bashir Abubakar Masama of Bukkuyum North Constituency; Muktaru Nasiru Kaura of Kaura North Constituency; Nasiru Abdullahi of Maru North Constituency; Bashar Bello of Bungudu West Constituency; and Bashar Aliyu of Gummi I Constituency.
The eight lawmakers were suspended by the Zamfara State House of Assembly on February 26, 2024, over allegations of gross misconduct, conspiracy and holding an unauthorised sitting after allegedly forcing their way into the chamber.
Their renewed commitment to the APC comes as the party seeks to consolidate its position in Zamfara ahead of the 2027 elections.
