As autumn settles over the Algarve, bringing cooler mornings and a quieter pace of life, Christ The King Anglican Church in Almancil is inviting the community to come together for a special Harvest Thanksgiving Service.
The Community Harvest Service will take place on Sunday, October 18, at 10.30am, at the Church on the Lake, in Jardim das Comunidades, Almancil.
The service will offer an opportunity to give thanks for the season’s abundance while helping those in need within the local community.
Those attending are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food, including pulses, tinned goods, cooking oil, rice and pasta. All contributions will go towards supporting ASCA’s food pantry in Almancil, helping local families and individuals facing difficulties.
Harvest thanksgiving is a centuries-old tradition, with roots in ancient seasonal celebrations and later Victorian church customs. At its heart is a shared appreciation of the land, its produce and the importance of giving back to the community.
Christ The King Anglican Church hopes the occasion will bring together residents and visitors of all backgrounds to celebrate the Algarve’s harvest season and contribute to a worthwhile local cause.
The service will also be accessible via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
