The alleged conversion to Islam by Nigerian Afrobeats singer Wande Coal has caused a stir on social media.
The controversy began after a video of the singer surfaced online on October 18, 2026, on his 41st birthday. In the video, the singer is seen at an Islamic prayer gathering, with prayer mats and guests dressed in traditional white outfits and caps.
Reacting to the video, fans of the singer expressed surprise; in response, Music executive Bizzle Osikoya appeared to confirm the reports, replying, “He reverted,” further fuelling conversations about the singer’s religious beliefs.
Wande Coal, whose real name is Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, is also reportedly associated with the Muslim name Abdul-Ganiyy Ibn Ojosipe, although variations of the name have circulated online.
The reports have generated mixed reactions, with some fans expressing surprise while others congratulated the singer and wished him well. However, some noted that the singer was never of the other religion.
Wande Coal has yet to publicly address or confirm the reports as of the time of filing this report.
