A Limerick player has become the first person to claim the €100,000 top prize in a revamped Lotto game.
The lucky winner matched all five numbers in the Lotto Pick and Play Plus 2 game on Monday, October 19, after purchasing a ticket online on the day of the draw.
The player has since visited National Lottery headquarters to collect their whopping €100,000 prize.
Speaking after collecting the winnings, the Limerick player revealed plans to enjoy some of the money.
“Once the excitement settles down, I’ll be doing a bit of car shopping and looking after family.
“It’s great to be in a position to share something like this with the people closest to me,” they said.
The win is the first after a refresh of the Lotto game, which saw the number of balls reduced from 47 to 45.
Lotto players will have another chance to land a major windfall, with this Wednesday’s jackpot estimated at €3.2 million.
