THE Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has confirmed the discovery of tiger footprints at a farm near Jalan Air Betang-Jalan Kampung Air Panas, Gerik, last Wednesday.
"Initial field investigations indicate that the report is credible, as tiger footprints were indeed found.
"The orchard is about 2km from the Bintang Hijau Forest Reserve," said Perak Perhilitan director Dr Pazil Abdul Patah yesterday.
Images of the footprints have gone viral, raising concerns among residents.
Pazil said Perhilitan was conducting regular checks in the area and gathering information from residents and farmers.
He advised them to remain vigilant, avoid going out alone in the early morning, late evening or at night, and keep livestock in secure enclosures.
"People are also advised not to provoke, approach or attempt to track the animal.
"Any sightings should be reported immediately to the department through the official complaint channels."
