A video capturing a candid and emotionally charged exchange between Ida Odinga and Maurice Ogeta, the man widely regarded as Raila Odinga's trusted bodyguard, has gone viral after surfacing on social media.
In the clip, Ida is seen directly addressing Ogeta at what appears to be a small indoor gathering, held in a warmly lit room with orange-toned walls.
The setting is casual, with several people present, but the mood between the two turns notably tense as Ida speaks.
She pointedly tells Ogeta that he has not visited since Raila's passing, saying:
"I thank God that Gor Mahia has brought you here finally. Since Baba died, he never came."
The words are delivered in a measured but firm tone, making clear that his absence has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
Why Ogeta's absence is drawing attention
Maurice Ogeta was not just a bodyguard in the conventional sense. Those close to the Odinga household have long described him as one of Raila's most loyal confidants, a man who was rarely far from the former Prime Minister's side.
His silence since Raila's death has therefore struck many as conspicuous. The timing of the confrontation is particularly significant, coming ahead of Raila's first memorial.
For many Kenyans, Raila's passing left a deep void in the country's political landscape, and those who were closest to him have remained firmly in the public eye.
