The Sivaganga Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a history-sheeter near the town.
Madan alias Sullan Madan, 26, from Pudupatti near Sivaganga was a history-sheeter with 15 cases pending against him, including a double murder case. On October 18, he went to the manjuvirattu held at Okkur Melamangalam along with his bulls.
When he was talking to his friends, a group of 11 persons, who arrived there on four two-wheelers, hacked Madan to death. The Sivaganga Town police registered a case. Based on the orders of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Gupta, six special teams, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Amal Edwin, were formed.
During investigation, it was revealed that on November 1, 2025, a gang, led by Madan’s friend Arun Pandi, hacked Rajesh, 20, son of auto driver Bhagyaraj, to death in Sivaganga. Arun Pandi was arrested in this case and remanded in prison.
That murder enraged Rajesh’s friend Mithun Manikkam of Velur Murugappanchan near Manamadurai. Since Madan supported Arun Pandi’s faction, enmity developed between Madan and Mithun Manikkam.
There were clashes between them on social media, and Mithun Manikkam had been threatening Madan via social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Madan was arrested and sent to jail in a case on October 1, and he came out on bail on October 7.
It came to light that upon learning about Madan’s visit to Okkur Melamangalam, Mithun Manikkam called his friends Adhipathi Raja, 26, of Thirupuvanam, Balamurugan, 19, of Udaikulam near Manamadurai, Babu, 23, of A. Villankulam, Chandru, 19, of Manamadurai, Manikkam, 26, of Thanakkankulam in Madurai, Pradeep, 28, of Tirumangalam, and Vasu of Karaikudi to murder Madan.
The police arrested Pradeep, Balamurugan and Babu. A search is on for the others.
Both these two factions had been posting death threats against each other on social media platforms. Consequently, the Cyber Crime Police registered a case and blocked 25 accounts on Instagram and four accounts on Facebook. The Sivaganga District Police have warned that strict action will be taken if anyone continues to post such contents on social media.
