Alex Eala is already making plans for the 2027 season ahead of the Australian Open.
Eala has enjoyed the best season of her career so far this year, having won her first WTA title in Washington D.C., reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon and breaking into the top 20.
The Filipina now has only two tournaments left to play in 2026, with Eala’s exit from the Ningbo Open meaning that she now only has the Tokyo Open and Hong Kong Open left on her schedule this year.
Eala will end her season at the Hong Kong Open, and now she has already confirmed where she will compete in her first tournament of 2027.
Alex Eala confirmed to begin her 2027 season in Auckland
Eala began her 2026 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland, and she will now do the same again in 2027 after the tournament confirmed her entry.
The ASB Classic is a WTA 250 level tournament and takes place during the first week of the season, at the same week as the United Cup and the Brisbane International.
This year, Eala used the ASB Classic as her only preparation for the Australian Open, as well as playing an exhibition match at the Kooyong Classic event.
Eala is one of two top 20 players that have already been confirmed for the ASB Classic, alongside defending champion Elina Svitolina. The 2027 ASB Classic will take place between January 4-10.

Eala also played doubles at the ASB Classic earlier this year, as she and Iva Jovic also made it to the semi-finals after beating the team of Svitolina and Venus Williams.
Next year, Eala will be hoping to take it one step further, as she looks to join previous Auckland champions including Serena and Venus Williams, Coco Gauff and Lindsay Davenport.
