Padres insider Marty Caswell on Thursday took a shot at the Los Angeles Dodgers after the team suffered its third consecutive loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series.
The Dodgers trail the Brewers 3-0 in the best-of-seven series and are on the brink of elimination. After defeating the Atlanta Braves 3-1 in the NLDS, Los Angeles has struggled offensively against Milwaukee, batting just .146 with runners on base. The Dodgers’ latest defeat came on Wednesday, when the Brewers secured a 6-2 win in Game 3.
Los Angeles briefly took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Milwaukee responded in the seventh with back-to-back home runs from Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell off Blake Snell to regain control of the game.
Following the loss, a video of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts celebrating in the clubhouse after the Dodgers’ Oct. 7 series-clinching win over Atlanta resurfaced online. In the clip, he can be heard rallying his team,
“We’re smarter, we’re better and we’re tougher.”
A player in the background chimed in, “And we’re dinosaurs.” Caswell took a dig at the team and responded to the video with a sarcastic post on X:
“The dinosaurs are one game from extinction.”
The Dodgers will face the Brewers in Game 4 on Thursday at Dodger Stadium. With the season on the line, Los Angeles must win four consecutive games to reach the World Series.
Dave Roberts discusses potential lineup changes ahead of Game 4 and the comeback of the Los Angeles Dodgers
After the Game 3 loss, Dave Roberts was asked whether he planned to make any changes to the Dodgers’ lineup for the next game, which the Brewers planned as a bullpen game.
“Not sure. I haven’t digested this one. You know, they’re going to run a bullpen game. So, just trying to figure out, you know, which guys want to be in there, how you kind of construct the lineup, but I haven’t thought about that one yet,” Roberts said.
He also discussed his plans to speak with the team before Game 4, stressing that the players understood what was at stake. He pointed to the Dodgers’ ability to put together winning streaks during the regular season, adding:
“I’ll talk to them tomorrow. Well, they know what’s at stake, and, you know, we’ve won four in a row, you know, a number of times this year. Ten times, I think, something like that. So, But again, we got to win them all. So, that’s our only focus.”
Dave Roberts also praised Dodgers fans for their support throughout Game 3, highlighting the energy they brought from the opening pitch and their continued backing of the team despite the disappointing result.
